- Can you just as easily convey what you want to say in an email?
- Is it a “pre-meeting” for an actual meeting happening later?
- Did you give attendees enough time to properly review the resources that you sent over before the meeting?
- Have you already met multiple times about this same topic or issue without any actionable next steps or resolution?
- Are key participants unable to attend because of a scheduling conflict?
- Is this a standing meeting on your calendar that doesn’t ever help people to get much done?
- Are the majority of the people receiving your invite “optional” invitees?
- Is the “Part 2” of a meeting that you had earlier but ran out of time to finish going over everything?
- Are the key participants already so busy that your meeting will force them to come in early or stay late?
- Is this pegged as a “brainstorming” or “spit-balling” meeting? (Hint: People tend to be more creative in a more natural, relaxed environment rather than a formal meeting.)
- Is it scheduled as a 15-minute meeting?
- Is this the last item of the day on a Friday or before a holiday break?
